A training programme on Building Information Modelling (BIM) was successfully organized by the Youth Community for Nepalese Contractors (YCNC), with Forefront Engineering Pvt. Ltd. serving as the Technical Partner. The programme aimed to introduce young construction entrepreneurs, engineers, and technical professionals to digital technologies and modern project management practices. The programme was organized to raise awareness about the growing role of technology in the construction industry and equip young professionals with knowledge of digital transformation, BIM methodologies, and their practical applications in construction projects. During the programme, Mr. Basanta Chand, President of YCNC, highlighted that the adoption of modern technologies such as BIM is no longer optional but an increasing necessity for the construction industry. He emphasized that digital technologies could make construction project planning, design, cost management, coordination, and execution more efficient, systematic, and transparent. The programme was also attended by Er. Sushil Kumar Shrestha, Immediate Past President of YCNC, who stressed the importance of keeping construction professionals updated with emerging technologies and digital systems to make Nepal's construction industry more modern, competitive, and efficient. Similarly, Mr. Saurav Sharma, General Secretary of YCNC, highlighted the significant role of BIM in improving overall construction project management. He explained that BIM facilitates better coordination among project stakeholders, structured information and data management, and improvements in construction quality and productivity. He also encouraged Nepalese contractors to adapt to evolving construction technologies and integrate digital solutions into their regular working practices.
Technical Sessions on BIM and Digital Construction
The training sessions were facilitated by BIM and digital technology experts Er. Mahesh Karki, Er. Manish Bhetwal, and Er. Sudhir Thapa. The sessions covered the fundamental concepts of Building Information Modelling (BIM), its applications, and the practical benefits it offers throughout the construction project lifecycle. Participants were also introduced to Bentley Systems' digital engineering solutions, with a focused training session on Common Data Environment (CDE) ProjectWise & SYNCHRO 4D, demonstrating how 4D construction planning and simulation can integrate 3D models with project schedules to support construction sequencing, progress monitoring, resource planning, and project coordination. During his session, Er. Mahesh Karki highlighted how digital technologies can improve coordination among project stakeholders, identify design errors at an early stage, support informed decision-making, and enhance overall project efficiency. He further emphasized that, with Nepal's infrastructure sector expanding rapidly, construction businesses need to gradually embrace emerging technologies such as BIM, Digital Twin, Reality Capture, AI, and 4D construction planning using solutions such as Bentley SYNCHRO 4D to remain competitive and improve project delivery.
